Product Story

Contacto Alvarinho is wonderfully refreshing and much more, offering depth and style at a very friendly price. The wine is made with 100% Alvarinho, also known as Albariño when grown in neighboring Spain. Albariño has become widely known to wine lovers around the globe for creating with wines tremendous orchard fruit and floral notes. The grapes are grown in the Vinho Verde sub-region of Monção and Melgaço known for its world-class Alvarinho wines. The grapes were hand-picked and quickly transported to the winery. The grapes were destemmed and given a brief maceration on their skins followed by a slow fermentation and a three-month rest in tank on its lees to build body and complexity.

Brand Story

The Contacto brand is anchored in the beautiful Casa de Rodas estate in the Monção and Melgaço sub-region of the Vinho Verde DOC (in northern Portugal). The 27.5 hectare estate was acquired by the Symington family and the wines are made in a joint venture with legendary Vinho Verde producer Anselmo Mendes as winemaker. Anselmo Mendes commented, “Monção-Melgaço has become one of the world-class white wine-producing regions over the last few years.” We love what they are doing — particularly the commitment to Alvarinho in this great appellation. The story is just getting started.

Tasting Note

Brilliant, medium gold/green color. The aromatics are intense, offering scents of green melon, citrus zest, and fresh herbs with supporting notes of mineral, nectarine, and lemongrass. The palate confirms the nose delivering a citrus-driven core with flavors of guava, bees wax, and sea salt. The finish is crisp with tart green fruits. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with a vibrant texture.

How to Serve

Serve chilled with nothing but a glass for an ideal aperitif or pair it with grilled squid and octopus or tuna tartare.
