Tromba Blanco, 100% Agave Tequila

Product Story

Tromba Blanco is a beautiful expression of blanco Tequila. The agave is grown in Los Altos, in the highlands of Jalisco. This Tequila is made in relatively small batches with hand-selected agave averaging seven to eight years in age. The agave pinas are cooked in a traditional stone oven for 25 to 30 hours and then rested for a further 12 hours. The juice — known as mosto — is then extracted and fermented for 72 hours. Then Tromba is distilled twice in 6,000 liter copper pot stills. The heart of the distillation is reserved to become Tromba Tequila. Their blanco is rested in stainless steel prior to bottling to preserve the fresh and pure flavors.

Brand Story

In Spanish, la tromba is slang for a sudden and intense rain storm. But it is also understood to mean that something big, a change is about to happen. Three friends, Eric Brass, Nick Reid, and James Sherry met in Guadalajara in 2005. Between sips of Tequila they created a vision to create a great Tequila that would become Tromba. They found partners in maverick master distiller, Marco Cedano, and his son Rodrigo. These men had the skill to make the vision a tangible reality. Tromba is produced at the El Viejito distillery in the historic, highland town of Atotonilco, Jalisco. El Viejito is headed by Juan Nuñez, a third generation tequilero whose family has been making tequila in Los Altos since 1937.

Tasting Note

Brilliant, crystal clear. The nose is amazingly complex and generous with loads of ripe agave, ripe pineapple, wild flowers, honeysuckle, citrus zest, and white pepper. The palate echoes the nose being lush with ripe agave supported by vibrant layers of citrus, earth, sea salt, coriander seed, and lime. Medium-bodied with bright acidity that gives the generous fruit great balance and length. $34.99 –

How to Serve

Tromba Blanco is so well-crafted that is can be sipped neat but it's extremely versatile at the bar performing admirably in the most iconic Tequila-based cocktails such as: Paloma, Margarita, Rosita, or the Tromba Soda.
