Tongue Dancer Wines Foxtrot Pinot Noir Anderson Valley 2020

Product Story

Tongue Dancer Wines (TDW) has just introduced Foxtrot Pinot Noir. We are intrigued by any new release from TDW but this one exceeded our high expectations. The Foxtrot is one hell of a Pinot Noir that is bold, exotic, and pleasingly vexing while being thoroughly true to the varietal. The grapes hail from the Wightman House and Boudoures Vineyards in the Anderson Valley. All grapes were hand-picked and gently de-stemmed before going through a five-day cold maceration. It was then fermented primarily with native yeast with daily punchdowns. The wine spent 11 months on the lies in French oak — 15% new oak. There was just a light filtration at bottling because why mess with a good thing. We are thrilled by this wine and we are hopeful that this is a regular part of the TDW lineup going forward.

Brand Story

Tongue Dancer Wines is the creation of James and Kerry MacPhail. If you are a California Pinot Noir lover you likely know James' previous work with MacPhail Family Wines. James knows how to make amazing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and James knows a lot of people who grow spectacular Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This best of both worlds scenario is witnessed in each sip of Tongue Dancer’s award winning wines. They offer a range of wines from various vineyard sources that include a lovely Rosé of Pinot Noir as well as a classic method bubbly. Lately they have introduced their “Ultra” tier that is limited to their best barrel of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay respectively. Tongue Dancer is constantly innovating, releasing new wines every year while never missing a beat. We can't wait to see what they do next. Tasting Note

Brilliant, medium ruby color. The aromatics are wonderfully intense, offering scents of black cherry and baking spices with supporting notes of raspberry, mineral, forest floor, and subtle hints of sweet oak. The palate echoes the nose delivering a red and black fruits-driven core with flavors of black plum, black tea, red currant, and vanilla. The finish is long and lingering with ripe tannins. Medium to full-bodied and perfectly balanced with a velvety texture.

How to Serve

This wine really needs nothing but a glass but the rich texture and bright acidity would love to pair with grilled sausages or your favorite charcuterie.
