The aromatics are so seductive that you can be satisfied nosing this Rum for hours. Vibrant red currants take the lead backed by scents of caramel, honey, and hints of allspice, and toasted oak.

The palate echoes the nose delivering a core of red berries that phase from sweet to tart with a generous dose of vanilla, honey, oak, and rich caramel.

Medium to full-bodied with perfect balance with the blend of red berries and classic aged Rum flavors.

The Rums created at Destileria Serrallés and their brand Don Q are simply world-class as we have stated for many years now. While cask finishing is far from new and in truth a bit overplayed, Don Q has discovered this amazing combination and in the process created a Rum that tastes like no other.

Don Q’s delicious Double Aged Zinfandel Cask Finish Rum (paired release with the Double Aged Port Cask Finish Rum) arrives on the heralded heals of Don Q’s Cognac and Vermouth Cask Finish Rums — both earning Five-Stars at BevX.com. This delicious and unique Rum is aged in American White Oak Barrels for 5-8 years, then rested for over three years in California Zinfandel wine casks. While cask finishing (the process of resting a spirit in a cask foreign to its usual aging regime) adds new flavors to most any spirit — in our view, no other Rum producer has achieved this level of success. The Don Q Double Aged Zinfandel Cask Finish Rum is one of just a handful of Rums we have encountered finished in Zinfandel casks. The beautiful red fruit flavors achieved here will no doubt inspire others to attempt the same. Don Q produced 1,800 six-bottle cases of each expression, which will be divided equally between Puerto Rico, Europe, and the United States. These innovative Rums don’t just happen. It is the result of decades of work and commitment by the Serrallés family and the unmistakable talent of Don Q’s Maestra Ronera Silvia Santiago and Master Blender Liza Cordero.
