Kennedy Shah La Vie en Rouge Columbia Valley 2012
In the Glass
Brilliant ruby color.
Deep black plum notes take the lead with scents of raspberry and blueberry with hints of earth, spice, and black coffee.
The palate confirms the nose with a ripe berry fruit focus supported by notes of tart cherry, brown spices, oak, and dried herbs.
Intensity & Texture
Round and full with great balance, complexity, low-tannins, and a very welcomed moderate dose alcohol.
I love innovative blends and complex wines with hedonistic appeal sold at under $15. This is a real winner.
With a sticker price under $15 while offering quality typically found in wines over $20 this is a super value.
The "La Vie en Rouge" is one of those fun, kitchen sink style blends made up of: 32% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petit Verdot, and 6% Syrah. It's simply fun to drink while offering complexity and great versatility.
How to Enjoy
This is a red that welcomes food (anything from pizza to a roast) but it is fine with just a glass offering immediate pleasure.
