Carol Shelton Pizazz Zin/Old Vine Zinfandel Lodi 2013
In the Glass
Deep, ruby red color.
The nose is quite subtle with soft, ripe red fruits mingling with chocolate, vanilla, and raspberry jam.
The palate is in full agreement with the nose delivering an ultra soft and silky fruit-driven core with sweet jam and vanilla accents.
Intensity & Texture
Medium-bodied and super, super lush with virtually no tannins at all keeping its structure with a bright dose of acidity.
Bright and fruit-driven wines meant for early drinking are always welcome as they offer hedonistic pleasure to a wide range of palates.
At just under $20 a bottle this wine fits the budget requirements of many of today's wine drinkers while still experiencing the magic touch of Carol Shelton.
This jammy Zin is named to honor Charlie Piazza’s half century of growing in Lodi by making an anagram of his name. It's crafted with nearly all Zin in the blend (96%) and rested for 18 months aged in barrels with 20% being new American oak and the majority 80% aged in older American and French oak.
How to Enjoy
Food pairings are not always required sometime a wine like this with lush, ripe fruit and no tannins to speak of can just be sipped and enjoyed at the end of the day.
