Brilliant, deep ruby color.

The aromatics are very intense offering scents of cassis and blackberry with supporting notes of boysenberry, black tea, hints of hibiscus flower, and vanilla.

The palate confirms the nose delivering a black fruit-driven core with flavors of black fruits, plum, mineral, and oak. The finish is long and lingering with ripe tannins.

Medium-bodied and nicely balanced with a supple texture.

Finding a Cabernet from California for $10 is not a great chore but just try finding one that you want to drink. Nia delivers a lighter style Cab with style and bright flavors.

An undisputed best buy. The dollar to quality ratio offered by the Nia Cabernet is topnotch.

Analysis

The 2017 Nia Cabernet is perhaps more supple and chewy than previous vintages while still being very juicy with low tannins and bright acidity. The Nia Cab is still an ideal happy hour Cab. The grapes are primarily sourced from California's Mokelumne Valley in Lodi. It is made with 85% Cabernet Sauvignon (Concannon Clone) and 15% Merlot and aged in seasoned French oak for a period of nine months. The wine is made by Ed Killian, a veteran California winemaker with more than three decades at his craft. Buy this one by the case.
