Wine Reviews

Umani Ronchi Campo San Giorgio Riserva Conero DOCG 2016
Brilliant, dark ruby color. The aromatics are intense, offering scents of sour cherry and cassis with supporting notes of boysenberry, anise, baking spices, black tea, and cigar box. The palate confirms the nose, delivering a black fruit-driven core with flavors of black cherry, dried herbs, forest floor, black fruits, and mineral. The finish is long and lingering with chewy tannins. Full-bodied and perfectly balanced with an opulent texture. $45 – 5 Stars/97 points

Spirits Reviews

Martini & Rossi Bitter
Brilliant, electric ruby color. The aromatics are beautifully complex with scents of ripe red fruit supported by bitter bark, crushed teaberry, rhubarb, red grapefruit zest, quinine, and blood orange. The palate confirms the nose delivering a lush but very vibrant red fruit core with waves of herbs, citrus, and tart red fruits than finish dry. Medium-bodied being ideally balanced with the classic contrast of bitter herbs with a semisweet red fruit core. We love this bitter and we have a new Bitter for our regular Negroni nights as it’s every bit as good — if not better — than the other brand we all know! In competitive markets this lovely aperitif sells for well under $20 a bottle. $26.99 – 4.5 Stars

Nardini Aquavite di Vinaccia Bianca Grappa
Brilliant, crystal clear. The aromatics are wonderfully floral and complex intertwining fresh flowers with dried flowers, hints of tea and honey add accents with subtle notes of earth. Rich, dense, and viscous with flavors of citrus, jasmine tea, blanched almonds, wild flower honey, and loads of savory herbs that become bitter in all the right ways on the finish. Full-bodied with layers of intense flavors (aided by the higher proof) and a silky, viscous core that is kept clean with a generous splash of acidity. $45 – 4.5 Stars

Merlet Crème de Peche, Peach Liqueur
Beautiful deep, golden color. The aromatics are so pure and so tactile that you believe that you can reach out and touch the freshly cut peaches with scents of the sweet, ripe flesh, tart skins, as well as a trace of stem and leaf. The palate is more pure peach with rich, peach concentrate at the core flanked by bitter skins, stone accents, and hints of under-ripe peach to add contrast. Medium to full-bodied with ideal balance with lush fruit from opening to finish. No one does a better peach liqueur. $24.99 – 5 Stars
