Wine Reviews

Whitecliff Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2020
Brilliant, light pale straw color. The aromatics are very intense offering scents of grapefruit and fresh hay with supporting notes of gooseberry, kumquat, and citrus zest. The palate echoes the nose delivering a citrus-driven core with flavors of tropical fruit, slate, and green tea. The finish is crisp and refreshing. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with a vibrant texture. $16 4 Stars/91 points

Spirits Reviews

Don Q Reserva 7 Rum
Brilliant copper to amber color. The nose is absolutely beautiful and complex offering scents of deep caramel, baked orchard fruits, roasted nuts, cocoa nibs, and brown baking spices. The palate echoes the nose being lush and rich while vibrant with caramel and silky brown butter foiled by accents of pepper, oak, and a subtle salinity. Medium to full-bodied with perfect balance as the spice notes and abundant acidity match the decadent caramel flavors. A blend of light and heavy Rums aged in American oak for a minimum of seven years. $24.99 – 4.5 Stars

King of Kentucky Barrel No. 3 — 2020 14 Years Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Brilliant, deep amber color. The nose is alluring and complex with notes of sweet fruit cake, caramel, vanilla bean, and orange peel with accents of candied ginger and maple. The palate echoes the nose delivering a dense, baked cherry and maple core with waves of brown baking spices, herbal liqueur, and sweet, charred oak. Full-bodied with a complex and dense palate that greatly evolves with water and aeration. Sip slowly as it’s not cheap and there are fewer than 2,000 bottles available. $250 – 4.5 Stars
