Wine Reviews
Troon Vineyard Amphora Amber Vermentino Applegate Valley 2019
Cloudy, deep golden color. The nose is moderately intense offering scents of apricot stone, fresh thyme, and quince with supporting notes of orange peel and cantaloupe. The palate is in substantial agreement with the nose delivering a ripe orchard fruits-driven core with flavors of citrus zest, wet stones, guava, and pear. The finish is long and lingering with drying tannins. Medium-bodied and nicely balanced with a vibrant texture. $35 3.5 Stars/89 points
Spirits Reviews
6 O’Clock Brunel Gin
Brilliant, crystal clear. The juniper leaps from the glass causing lovers of juniper-forward Gins to applaud. Behind the juniper is an exotic spice market redolent of whole spice curry blends with cumin, cardamon, and pepper showing prominence. The palate fully supports the nose while becoming even more expressive thanks to the overproof spirit. It’s remarkably fruity with citrus in the lead being both semisweet and wonderfully tart with lovely earth, pepper, and citrus zest notes rising on the finish. Full-bodied with a silky and semisweet core spiked with complex botanicals while being perfectly balanced with a bright dose of citrus-driven acidity. $55 – 5 Stars
6 O’Clock London Dry Gin
Brilliant, crystal clear. The nose is alluring offering generous juniper aromatics with complex citrus notes supported by beautiful floral scents and subtle earthy accents. The palate echoes the nose delivering a complex citrus-driven core with vibrant juniper and coriander flavors supported by orange peel, lemon zest, and hints of white pepper. Full-bodied with ideal balance offering expressive fruit notes with generous acidity and spice keeping this Gin dry and sprite. null $40 – 4.5 Stars
