Blue Hawaii

A BevX Cocktail Recipe

This classic fluorescent cocktail, the Blue Hawaii, was invented in 1957 by Harry Yee, legendary head bartender of the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, Hawaii – USA. The drink was created in response to a request by Bols, the Dutch liqueur specialist, to utilize their Blue Curaçao. The name is derived from the Bing Crosby hit of the same name. Elvis would later perform a cover of this song for the film Blue Hawaii in 1961. This cocktail became best known as a blender drink, but the shaken version is far more appealing.

Ingredients

3/4 oz. Light Rum
3/4 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Blue Curacao
3 oz. Pineapple Juice
1 oz. BevX Perfect Sour Mix

Occasion

Enjoy this drink anytime you are seeking an old-school Tiki-style drink that catches the eye. Maybe make for a binge-watching session of Magnum…

Method

Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and pour into a tall glass 3/4 filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a pineapple slice.

Variations

We have tried this drink with double the Rum portion while eliminating the Vodka. It makes the drink feel even more tropical and beach-worthy.
