Brandy Stinger
The Brandy Stinger is an often forgotten classic cocktail from the Roaring Twenties. It was created utilizing Cognac, but it can be made with any quality Brandy. We are using the typical ratio of two parts Brandy to one part Creme de Menthe, but you can tweak this ratio to three to one and still get a healthy dose of mint.
Ingredients
2 oz. VSOP level Brandy
1 oz. White (clear) Creme de Menthe
Occasion
Enjoy any time of year, in any season, when you are feeling nostalgic.
Method
Add all ingredients along with a handful of ice to a mixing glass. Stir, don't shake, for a good 20 seconds and then strain the drink into a chilled cocktail or martini glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint or a lemon twist.
Variations
There are numerous versions of this classic cocktail, with the Green Hornet being the most faithful to the original, utilizing Green Creme de Menthe to provide a bright, green color. You can make Stingers with any spirit from Vodka to Amaretto.
