Classic Mojito
All that is standing between you and home Mojito creations (not to mention last week's cocktail) is a muddler. This fine tool is essential in creating the Classic Mojito and many other cocktails. Why bother with an opening promotion for the muddler? Because the Mojito is a wildly popular cocktail in restaurants, bars, and clubs and it is rarely made at home. If you love Mojitos, and many do, you owe it to yourself to make this cocktail at home where you can control and adjust the amount of lime, sugar, and even Rum to best suit your taste.
Ingredients
2 oz. light Rum
1 teaspoon simple syrupr
3 Lime wedges (quarters)
6 Mint leaves (plus a small sprig for garnish)
Club soda
Occasion
Served on hot summer days when fresh mint is in full bloom.
Method
Muddle mint leaves, superfine sugar, two lime wedges, and the juice of the third lime wedge in a chilled rocks or bucket glass. Add ice to fill and then 2 oz light Rum. Top with a couple of splashes of club soda. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig.
Variations
There are hundred of variations of this classic with every tropical and citrus fruit imaginable.
