Spirits Reviews

Brilliant, crystal clear. The nose is wonderfully aromatic with waves of bright juniper supported by fresh citrus, green tea, and spring flowers with just a hint of pepper. The palate echoes the nose delivering a generous but sprite citrus-driven core with sweet orange in the lead with accents of lemongrass, anise, lemon, and earth. Full-bodied with a silky entry that is soon met with a balancing citrus attack that leads to a long, lingering finish that begs another sip. Made with a grain spirit and 11 botanicals. $49.99 – 4 Stars

Brilliant, pale golden straw. The aromatics are very interesting and certainly barrel-driven with scents of cola and Whiskey with accents of ginger, sweet citrus, and a host of brown baking spices supported by hints of brown sugar. The palate is in somewhat agreement with the nose as the decadent Whiskey and brown spice notes give way to peppery ginger and citrus notes that become redolent of lemongrass and citronelle. Full-bodied with dense brown spirit and brown spice notes that are foiled by citrus and ginger ultimately becoming dry. $29.99 – 3.5 Stars

Brilliant, crystal clear. The nose is alluring offering generous juniper aromatics with complex citrus notes supported by beautiful floral scents and subtle earthy accents. The palate echoes the nose delivering a complex citrus-driven core with vibrant juniper and coriander flavors supported by orange peel, lemon zest, and hints of white pepper. Full-bodied with ideal balance offering expressive fruit notes with generous acidity and spice keeping this Gin dry and sprite. null $40 – 4.5 Stars

Brilliant, crystal clear. The juniper leaps from the glass causing lovers of juniper-forward Gins to applaud. Behind the juniper is an exotic spice market redolent of whole spice curry blends with cumin, cardamon, and pepper showing prominence. The palate fully supports the nose while becoming even more expressive thanks to the overproof spirit. It's remarkably fruity with citrus in the lead being both semisweet and wonderfully tart with lovely earth, pepper, and citrus zest notes rising on the finish. Full-bodied with a silky and semisweet core spiked with complex botanicals while being perfectly balanced with a bright dose of citrus-driven acidity. $55 – 5 Stars

Brilliant, crystal clear. The nose presents sweet, floral juniper with supporting notes of orange peel, lemon, and a mélange of brown baking spices. The palate echoes the nose delivering a lush, silky, and slightly sweet juniper focused core with flanking notes of citrus and hints of exotic botanicals that finish dry with a vibrant dose of citrus. Medium-bodied with bright flavors and a velvety spirit deftly mingle with the eight botanicals to create a Gin with ideal balance. $24.99 – 4 Stars

Very pale salmon color, crystal clear. The nose is very floral and fruity with waves of juniper and citrus and subtle notes of licorice. The palate is quite different than the nose as it delivers a bitter, pithy citrus core with tannic spice accents that fade on a thin finish. Medium-bodied and lacking a pleasing texture found in many Gins while highlighting citrus pith. We are not sure what they were aiming for in this Gin but we can't imagine that they hit the mark. $39.99 – 2.5 Stars

Brilliant, crystal clear. The aromatics are very floral with a hint of citrus and a Genever-like sweetness with hints of fenugreek, green cardamon, and gooseberry. The palate echoes the nose delivering a sweet, fruit driven core with green spices, lime zest, and ginger. This is a soft and gentle Gin that may be too soft and gentle for some hardcore Gin lovers. It is undeniably balanced with great length and depth. $35.99 – 3 Stars

Brilliant, crystal clear. The nose is wildly expressive with fresh juniper in the lead followed by vibrant and earthy botanicals that are lifted with accents of citrus and ginger. The palate is in full agreement with the nose delivering a lush but vibrant core with galangal (similar to ginger) and citrus with earthy angelica root and delicate brown spice and pepper accents rising on the finish. Full-bodied with ideal balance thanks to a bright dose of acidity and lively botanicals. An undisputed Best Buy. 4.5 Stars

Brilliant, crystal clear with a very pale straw hue. The aromatics of this Navy Strength Gin offers juniper, coriander, and citrus in equal measure with accents of brown spice and dried flowers in support. The palate echoes the nose delivering a lush and oily center palate with bold bursts of juniper, orange, grapefruit, and sweet herbal and spice notes dominate the core that becomes increasingly drier on the finish with vibrant citrus zest accents. Full-bodied with ideal balance and a texture, which is no small feat considering its considerable strength (54.5 abv). The Fords Officer's Reserve does not disappoint as it displays the same complexity and style of the original with a bold proof and subtle Sherry cask highlights. $34.99 – 5 Stars
