Tongue Dancer Wines Rosé de Ville, Rosé of Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2024

Product Story

This Rosé de Ville from Tongue Dancer Wines (TDW) represents their third commercial release of this alluring Rosé of Pinot Noir, but it’s our first taste. This unique Rosé is made with the saignée method. After just eight hours of skin contact, they bled off 10% of the juice from two of their 2024 Pinot Noirs, Vineyard eleven and Vine Hill. The juice was carefully married, fermented, and aged in stainless steel to retain its fresh and vibrant fruit character. In addition to being a delicious and charming Rosé, this wine gives us a cheeky preview of these two unreleased Pinots. The TDW Rosé of Pinot Noirs is always made in a dry style reminiscent of Rosé produced in the south of France. Their use of Bandol (Provence, France) yeast has become another signature of their Rosé wines. Rosé de Ville is the perfect complement to their Sonoma Coast Rosé, offering a rounder and fleshy palate.

Brand Story

Tongue Dancer Wines is the creation of James and Kerry MacPhail. If you are a California Pinot Noir lover, you likely know James' previous work with MacPhail Family Wines. James knows how to make amazing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and James knows a lot of people who grow spectacular Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We have been reviewing the wines from Tongue Dancer for the better part of a decade and have never seen a Tongue Dancer Wine fail to earn Four-Stars or better. Tongue Dancer constantly innovates, releasing new wines yearly while never missing a beat. Once, they surprised us by releasing a great, dry cider! This is a winery to watch. The wines are always in short supply, so be swift. Visit their website and join their mailing list to get direct access to their wines.

Tasting Note

Brilliant, medium salmon color. The aromatics are intense, offering scents of raspberry, crushed berries, and ripe tropical fruit with supporting notes of slate, French cantaloupe, and spring flowers. The palate confirms the nose delivering a red fruit-driven core with flavors of strawberry, nectarine, kumquat, and mineral. The finish is long and lingering. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with a supple texture.

How to Serve

Serve chilled but not too cold or you will miss much of what this wine has to offer as it opened up beautifully after 10 minutes at room temperature.
