Analysis

Tablas Creek’s excellent Patelin de Tablas Rosé is made in the tradition of Provence-style Rosé wines while being a hell of a lot better than most of their southern France brethren. The blend varies from vintage to vintage, with Grenache typically leading the way. The 2024 vintage is composed of a mix of 71% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 8% Vermentino, and 1% Counoise. 2024, like 2023, was a wet winter followed by a cool start to summer with temperatures rising from July through October. A majority of the grapes are direct-pressed into stainless steel tanks, while 10% of the grapes are cool-soaked for half of the day to extract color and structure. The wine was then fermented and rested in stainless steel to retain its fresh flavors. Post-fermentation, the wines were blended, cold-stabilized, and filtered before bottling in January 2025. The consistency of this wine is impressive, with each vintage earning high scores and the revealing fact of disappearing shortly after opening.

How to Enjoy

This beauty needs nothing but a glass, but it pairs perfectly with fried chicken, sushi, grilled Italian sausages, and smoked salmon.
