Tongue Dancer Wines Foxtrot Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2024
The fifth vintage of Tongue Dancer Wines’ (TDW) Foxtrot is the fourth on the trot from the Russian River Valley. However, the vineyard source, Castro Vineyard, is new to Foxtrot. The vineyard is located in the Santa Rosa Plains sector of the Russian River Valley. The area is known for cooler temperatures, clay soils, and coastal influences.

Brilliant, medium gold/green color. The aromatics are intense, offering scents of persimmon, meringue, and jasmine with supporting notes of citrus zest, mineral, pineapple, and spring flowers. The palate confirms the nose delivering a ripe orchard fruits-driven core with flavors of star fruit, sandalwood, apricot stone, nectarine, and chamomile. Brilliant, light green/gold color. The aromatics are intense, offering scents of apricot stone, wet stones, and pear, with supporting notes of straw, honeysuckle, beeswax, brioche, and citrus zest. The palate confirms the nose, delivering a ripe orchard fruit-driven core with flavors of sudachi, white peach, lemongrass, quince, and mineral. The finish is long and lingering. Medium- to full-bodied, perfectly balanced, with a supple texture. A great fruit source and a no-oak winemaking approach make this a singular wine worthy of your attention. $59 – 4.5 Stars/96 points

The palate confirms the nose, delivering a red-and-black fruit-driven core with flavors of black plum, five-spice, tamarind, slate, and star anise. Brilliant, deep amber color. The nose is quite complex offering scents of oak and saddle leather with waves of cinnamon, treacle, and nutmeg. The palate echoes the nose delivering a baked orchard fruit-drive core with assertive baking spice and pepper notes with accents of oak, ginger, and star anise. Full-bodied showing loads of barrel-driven spice notes with a spicy finish. $620 – 4 Stars
