Product Story

The Abita Christmas Ale is a brown ale that is brewed with six types of malted barley and fermented with American Ale yeast. It is brewed with pale malt, as well as a combination of Caramel, Biscuit, Munich, and chocolate malts. It is hopped and dry-hopped with Columbus, Cascade, Centennial, and Amarillo and has a nice piney and citrus hop flavor and aroma. The result is a flavorful brown ale that is sweet and malty with a pleasant hop aroma. This seasonal beer is available in November and December.


Brand Story

Founded in 1986, The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer and today brews more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda. Their lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. Abita is privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with them since day one.


Tasting Note


Brilliant, deep amber with a fine creamy head. The nose is complex with generous malt and toffee notes with piney and mildly earthy hops notes. The palate echoes the nose delivering a lush and silky malt-driven core with waves of caramel, toffee, brown bread, and dark chocolate with hints of brown baking spices. Full-bodied while being vibrant on the palate with great balance with a slightly dry finish.


How to Serve


Serve chilled poured into a traditional Ale or pint glass. Serve at happy hour or with rich stews or your favorite burger.
