Pisco Sunrise
Pisco is wildly under-appreciated in the US. Pisco is a translucent brandy produced in the South American nations of Peru and Chile. It mixes very well with fresh fruit juices while adding a unique fruity and spicy flavor.
The pomegranate syrup can be substituted with grenadine but your minimal efforts will be greatly rewarded by making your own. This syrup can live in your fridge for six months and can be used in many other cocktail creations.
Pomegranate Syrup Recipe
One Pint of pomegranate juice
1/4 cup sugar
A generous teaspoon of limejuice
In a small saucepan, bring all ingredients to a simmer and allow the sugar to dissolve and the mixture to reduce by half. Cool and use.
Ingredients
2 oz. Quality Pisco
4 oz. Fresh Squeezed Nectarine Juice
1 oz. Pomegranate Syrup (recipe above)
Occasion
Enjoy seated beachside — sand between your toes.
Method
Fill a tall highball glass with ice. Add the Pisco and then the nectarine juice. While tilting the glass slightly, slowly add the pomegranate syrup so it can make its way to the bottom of the glass and create the beautiful sunrise effect.
Variations
This drink is a variation of the famous Tequila Sunrise. Imagine this drink with Rum...
