The nose is beautiful, offering scents of decadent caramel and juicy Ruby Port that gives way to nutty Tawny Port, honey, and loads of brown baking spices and toasted oak.

Flavor

Don Q’s delicious Double Aged Port Cask Finish Rum (paired release with the Double Aged Zinfandel Cask Finish Rum) arrives on the heralded heals of Don Q’s Cognac and Vermouth Cask Finish Rums — both earning Five-Stars at BevX.com. This beautiful Rum is aged in American White Oak Barrels for 5-8 years, then rested for over three years in European Old Tawny Port Wine Casks. While cask finishing with Port casks has long been popular in the Whisky world, Rum producers are relatively new to the practice. Don Q’s version is the best that we have seen thus far and the asking price is far more friendly to Rum drinkers. Don Q produced 1,800 six-bottle cases of each expression, which will be divided equally between Puerto Rico, Europe, and the United States. These innovative Rums don’t just happen.
