Brilliant, crystal clear. The aromatics offered by this Bourbon are so rich and seductive that it's hard to stop nosing. The dense toffee, caramel, and baked fruit notes are perfectly married and jump from the glass (especially after a water dose). Supporting notes of charred oak, brown baking spices, and vanilla. The palate echoes the nose with a decadent, sweet fruit, caramel and nut core supported by brown spices and pepper that become drier and more wood forward on the finish. This beautiful Whisky is wonderfully aromatic with waves of black fruits and spicy rye lifting from the glass supported by brown baking spices, dark caramel, vanilla bean, and oak. The palate echoes the nose delivering a rich caramel and toffee-centered core with loads of toasty oak, spicy rye, Christmas cake spices and fruit, and trailing hints of roasted nuts. There is a generous oak note but I find it to be very rounded and mellow (especially with a few drops of water) as the exotic brown spices from the oak marry beautifully with rich dried fruits, caramel, and roasted nuts. The palate echoes the nose delivering a silky, caramel, and fruit-focused core with an incredibly generous dose of brown baking spice, toasted oak, vanilla, and leather that finishes dry. The aromatics are so pure that the corn takes on a fruity note (peach and melon) that is supported by mineral, sweet talc, and a hint of pepper. The palate is in full agreement with the nose delivering a lush and fruit-filled core with flanking notes of pepper that are more prominent on the finish.
