St. Clement’s ‘75

This classic cocktail has the dubious reputation of being among the most potent cocktails ever created. The crisp and refreshing combination of Gin, sparkling wine, and lemon passes the lips with ease but can certainly leave your head in the clouds. The unique name is said to be homage to the French 75mm artillery piece used with great regularity in the First World War. The drink is reputed to have a kick reminiscent to the result of being shelled by said gun! Ouch. We love this Silent Pool version of the French 75 as this Gin's rich and complex botanical offering is accentuated by the bubbles. There is no sense in taking our word for it – try one tonight.

Ingredients

3/4oz Silent Pool Gin
1/2oz Freshly squeezed Lemon and Orange Juice
1/4oz Sugar Syrup
4 oz. Sparkling Wine
lemon twist for garnish

Occasion

You can serve this drink at anytime but for me it's one of the ultimate apertifs quenching thirst while stimulating the apetite.

Method

Add the first three ingredients, along with a handful of ice, to a cocktail shaker and shake well. Strain into a coupe, Champagne flute, or perhaps a Collins glass filled half with ice. Top with the sparkling wine and garnish with lemon twist.

Variations

There are many variations on the classic French 75 and we like the Silent Pool take that equally allows orange juice in the mix as opposed to strictly utilizing lemon juice.
