Summer Salutation

This cocktail is named for its most logical use as a welcoming drink or a way to start the evening as you leisurely wait for the sunset. We all know that Rum and a great orange liqueur marry beautifully and the two juices contrast each other perfectly offering a lush fruitiness while semi-tart and crisp. It's dead easy to make and even easier to drink so be careful!

Ingredients

2 oz. Quality Aged Rum
.75 oz. Quality Orange Liqueur
1.5 oz. Orange Juice
1.5 oz. Pomegranate Juice
Dash of Bitters (orange bitters if you have it)
Soda

Occasion

This tall Rum cocktail is perfect is spring and summer.

Method

Place all of the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a tall glass with fresh ice, top with soda and garnish with a lime or orange wheel.

Variations

Change up the character of the drink with your choice or Rum. Also, swap the pomegranate juice for cranberry if you like.
