Playa Sunset
Playa del Carmen is a great and easy beach destination. The sea air and bright sun conspire to lull you into a mañana state of mind. While at the beach I am always blessed with the duty of bartender. While the margarita is the default cocktail of choice, I use the opportunity to play with new concoctions. On a trip years ago I was having difficulty locating my secret ingredient of choice and was forced to implement plan “B”, which was to just make-up something on the spot. What resulted after some minor tweaking was a refreshingly simple cocktail that I have dubbed the “Playa Sunset” (as it was born and consumed at that hour). Enjoy!
Ingredients
2 oz. Blanco, 100% Agave Tequila
3/4 oz. Mango juice
3/4 oz. fresh Limejuice
1/2 oz. Coconut liqueur
Occasion
This is a summertime cocktail and if you are near the sound of the waves - all the better.
Method
Construction could not be easier. Place all of the ingredients in a shaker with a handful of ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail glass or in a stout glass with ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.
Variations
You don't want to fool with this mix too much or you will unsettle the balance. Try substituting papaya or passion fruit juice for the mango.
