Brilliant, crystal clear.

The aromatics are very spicy with a well-integrated oak backbone that offers a perfect platform for ripe, rich stone fruits, lemon curd, honey, and caramel.

The palate echoes the nose delivering a rich and quite spicy fruit, Sherry, and honey-focused core with layers of pepper, brown baking spices, and loads of oak.

Full-bodied with intense spice, Sherry, and oak flavors that envelop the rich fruit.

Cool Factor

We are witnessing an Irish Whiskey renaissance for sure and with it a new wave of brands. Luckily, many of them are damn good!

Value Grade

At $70 a bottle this won't make many people's bargain list but this is the state of Whiskey — the elite labels don't come cheap.

Analysis

This is a limited edition with just 5,000 bottles produced. This Hyde Single Malt is aged for a minimum of 10 years being finished in first-fill Oloroso Sherry casks. It's bottled free of chill-filtration that can rob a spirit of its aromatics, flavor, and texture. This Whiskey is named in honor of Douglas Hyde, the first president of Ireland (1938-1945).
