The City Bourbon
Bourbon is such a versatile spirit but all too often it is pigeonholed by bartenders and home cocktailers. Bourbon plays very well with fruit flavors and its lush, vanilla-tinged character is the ideal platform for unique spice flavors. The City Bourbon takes elements of ultra-popular “city” bar and club cocktails and adds a very healthy dose of quality Bourbon, as well as a splash of ginger. Ginger is Whiskey’s soul mate. This cocktail comes together with little effort and requires no special ingredients so even the most timid host can make this tasty cocktail for their guests. Enjoy.
Ingredients
2 oz. Quality Bourbon
1/2 oz. Pama Liqueur
2 oz. Cranberry juice
1 oz. Ginger ale
Lime wedge squeezed
Occasion
This is a cocktail that can be enjoyed year-round but it really works in the summer when you want to taste Whiskey but you crave refreshment as well.
Method
Add three quarters of a Collins glass of ice to a cocktail mixer along with the Bourbon, Pama, and Cranberry juice. Stir well and then pour the contents into the Collins glass. Top with ginger ale, add the lime wedge, and gently stir. Serve.
Variations
You can change this drink considerably by doubling the Liqueur while this makes a drink that is too sweet for my taste. You can also swap the Pama for another fitting Liqueur such as Drambuie or Gran Gala.
