Revanche French 75 Reloaded

This classic cocktail has the dubious reputation of being among the most potent cocktails ever created. The crisp and refreshing combination of Gin (in the classic version), sparkling wine, and lemon passes the lips with ease but can certainly leave your head in the clouds.

The unique name is said to be homage to the French 75mm artillery piece used with great regularity in the First World War. The drink is reputed to have a kick reminiscent to the result of being shelled by said gun! Ouch.

This great variation on the classic is actually a delicious mash-up of two favorites — the French 75 and the Sidecar. We already know that Cognac and lemon are a great match and with the addition of Champagne this drink becomes more festive. The Revanche French 75 Reloaded is an instant classic.

Ingredients

1.25 oz. Revanche Cognac
.25 oz. Simple Syrup
.25 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
Brut Champagne (4 oz.)
lemon peel for garnish

Occasion

You can serve this drink at anytime but for me it's one of the ultimate apertifs quenching thirst while stimulating the apetite.

Method

Combine simple syrup, lemon juice and Revanche Cognac in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled flute. Top with champagne and garnish with a lemon twist.

Variations

This very delicious twist on the classic French 75 is an ideal example of great variations of the original. We love the use of Revanche Cognac in this drink and it will surely be added to our favorite cocktails.
