Troon Vineyard Druid’s Red Applegate Valley 2024
The 2024 vintage represents our fifth look at Druid’s Red, but in reality, it’s the second vintage of the new Druid’s Trio executed to their vision. Druid’s Red is made with classic grapes found in the Rhône and Southwest France — this wine has the character of a generous Côtes du Rhône. Cesarini Sforza Brut Rosé Trento NVBrilliant, medium salmon color with a fine bead of bubbles. The nose is moderately intense, offering scents of strawberry, rose petals, and slate with supporting notes of peach stone, kumquat, and baking spice. The palate echoes the nose, delivering a red and black fruits-driven core with flavors of raspberry, red currant, mineral, and orange peel. The finish is long and lingering. Zucca Rabarbaro Gran Reserva AmaroOpaque, deep mahogany color. The aromatics are very intense, giving aromas of dried herbs, treacle, eucalyptus, and rhubarb with supporting notes of campfire, dark chocolate, tamari, and mineral. The palate echoes the nose, delivering a baking spices-driven core with supporting flavors of brown sugar, candied ginger, cocoa nibs, orange peel, and dense balsamic. The finish is long and lingering. Medium to full-bodied and ideally balanced with a rich, viscous texture. $44.99 – 5 Stars
