Troon Vineyard Kubli Bench Amber Applegate Valley 2020
Troon Amber is made with a unique blend of 64% Riesling, 27% Vermentino, and 9% Viognier. This is Troon’s second vintage of their Kubli Bench Amber — last year’s vintage comprised 10% more Riesling. Note that 2021 will be the last vintage of this wine that included Riesling. That vineyard block is being replanted…

Brilliant, crystal clear. The aromatics are profound and alluring led by ripe stone fruits with waves of forest floor, lavender, citrus zest, and wild flowers. The palate confirms the nose delivering a full expression of dark plum with generous spice notes including black pepper that rises on the finish. Slightly hazy, light salmon color. The aromatics are pleasingly intense offering scents of raspberry and wild strawberry with supporting notes of cranberry and slate. The palate echoes the nose delivering a red fruit-driven core with flavors of red cherry, orange peel, and tropical fruits. The finish lingers with crisp citrus accents. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with a vibrant texture. $25 – 4.5 Stars/94 points

Tromba Blanco, 100% Agave Tequila
Brilliant, crystal clear. The nose is amazingly complex and generous with loads of ripe agave, ripe pineapple, wild flowers, honeysuckle, citrus zest, and white pepper. The palate echoes the nose being lush with ripe agave supported by vibrant layers of citrus, earth, sea salt, coriander seed, and lime. Medium-bodied with bright acidity that gives the generous fruit great balance and length. $34.99 – 4.5 Stars
Tromba Reposado, 100% Agave Tequila
Brilliant, pale golden color. The nose is quite peppery with baked agave notes, oak, caramel, and citrus with hints of clove and campfire. The palate is in full agreement with the nose delivering a dense, baked agave core with flanking spices, oak, and sweet caramel. Medium-bodied with bright acidity adding freshness with lingering pepper and spice accents. $39.99 – 4 Stars
Tromba Añejo, 100% Agave Tequila
Brilliant, golden color. The nose is sweet and decadent with scents of butterscotch in the lead supported by baked apple, chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. The palate is in full agreement with the nose delivering an ultra sweet agave core with generous waves of caramel, cotton candy, sweet herbs, and vanilla-soaked oak. Medium-bodied and absolutely decadent finishing with drier and mildly tannic wood accents. $49.99 – 4 Stars

Brilliant, medium straw color with a fine bead of bubbles. The nose is moderately intense offering scents of apple, spring flowers, and quince with supporting notes of bread dough and citrus. The palate echoes the nose delivering a ripe orchard fruits-driven core with flavors of apple and pear with toasty bread crust. The finish is crisp with lingering citrus and yeast accents.
