When I first saw a recipe for Stout Chocolate doughnuts I was intrigued. Once I examined the recipe it made sense and I couldn’t wait to try it.
It’s a simple recipe and if you are one who keeps Stouts in the fridge, chances are that you already have all of the ingredients necessary for these little gems. You will need a doughnut pan as these are baked doughnuts. A nice non-stick doughnut pan will set you back $10-15. Once you try these your pan will get a workout as you be making these tasty treats on a regular basis. Seriously, you are 30 minutes away from having one of these Stout & Chocolate Doughnuts in your hand!
Ingredients for Stout & Chocolate Doughnuts
- 1 cup flour
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup Dry Stout (like Murphys or Guinness)
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup sugar
- ⅓ cup melted butter
Glaze
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 oz of Irish Cream
- a bit of water if necessary
Method

Preheat the oven to 325F. Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl mix all of the wet ingredients. Now stir the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined — do not over mix. Prep the doughnut pan with nonstick spray or butter and then fill each cavity about 3/4 full. Bake for 12 minutes. Remove the baked doughnuts to a wire rack and drizzle over the glaze with a spoon. You know the rest — try not to eat them all. Serve with an Irish Coffee or a Rummy Hot Chocolate.

Oh Sean, they sound heavenly! (And really – what wouldn’t go better than stout)
Must make them… especially for July!
