Beverage of the Week
Tablas Creek Patelin de Tablas Paso Robles 2020
The great Patelin de Tablas Rouge is made with a unique blend of 36% Syrah, 34% Grenache, 19% Mourvèdre, 8% Tannat, and 3% Counoise. We have watched the makeup of this wine change through the years (this is our seventh vintage reviewed) from wines with over 50% Syrah to a blend with Grenache having near parody with Syrah…

Brilliant, medium ruby color. The aromatics are intense, offering scents of forest floor, bramble, and black tea with supporting notes of baking spices, laurel leaf, dried fruits, slate, graphite, and black plum. The palate is in substantial agreement with the nose delivering a red and black fruits-driven core with flavors of boysenberry, black currant, mocha, wet stones, and raspberry. The finish is long and lingering with chalky tannins. Medium to full-bodied and perfectly balanced with a meaty texture. Made with a unique blend of 43% Grenache, 33% Syrah, 19% Counoise, and 5% Mourvedre. This is a complex and luscious beast of wine with a massive potential to age and develop. $40 – 4.5 Stars/95 points

IZO Bacanora Silver
Brilliant, crystal clear. The nose is filled with the seductive scents of sweet mesquite smoke with waves of fresh tarragon, baked apples, mineral, and citrus zest and hints of green pepper. The palate confirms the nose delivering rich baked agave flavors with supporting notes of jalapeño, citrus, anise, and sea salt with white peppercorn accents rising on the finish. Medium to full-bodied with a silky texture and ideal balance thanks to bright citrus and ample spice notes. $80 – 4.5 Stars
