Liguria (Italy) Wine Zones

The wines of Liguria are not well-known outside of their home region. This region is simply known as the Italian Riviera and is a chic tourist destination as people flock to the beaches of Portofino or walk the living postcard of Cinque Terre.

Liguria ranks second to last among Italian wine regions but its wines are growing in reputation. There are no DOCG wines made here but there are eight DOCs. Vermentino is king and the best examples from Liguria rival the world’s best.

Permitted grapes include:
WhiteVermentino, Pigato (a sub-variety of Vermentino)
RedRossese
