Beverage of the Week
Troon Vineyard Cuvée Pyrénées Applegate Valley 2017
BevX readers know that we absolutely love the wines from Troon Vineyard. The second release of their beautiful Cuvée Pyrénées — a blend of 53% Tannat and 47% Malbec — is a smash hit as it was last year. This wine is in short supply so get your bottles while you can. Kilbeggan Single Grain Irish Whiskey
Brilliant, golden color. The nose offers scents of sweet grain with vanilla fudge and subtle accents of citrus and nutmeg. The palate echoes the nose delivering a sweet grain core with assertive black pepper and oak notes with a hearty dose of wood tannins. Medium-bodied with rich, sweet grain notes that are overwhelmed by alcohol heat and spice with astringent wood accents rising on the finish. $34.99 – 3 Stars

Castellani Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2015
Brilliant, deep scarlet color. The aromatics are very intense offering scents of black cherry and boysenberry with supporting notes of forest floor, leather, and cardamon. The palate confirms the nose delivering a red and black fruits-driven core with flavors of pomegranate and black tea. The finish is long and lingering with chewy tannins. Full-bodied and nicely balanced with a meaty yet nimble texture. $17 4 Stars/93 points
