Beverage of the Week

Ayinger Maibock (Germany)Ayinger Maibock (Germany)
The great Beers from Ayinger have been available in the US for more than two decades. Their Maibock is brewed in the fall and released in the spring. It’s just sweet enough to fortify while offering a great balance of spice with a delicate hop inclusion finishing with a vibrant dose of acidity…

Wine Reviews

Jermann Vintage Tunina IGP Venezia Giulia 2017
Brilliant, medium golden color. The aromatics are intense, offering scents of honeysuckle, green melon, and citrus zest with supporting notes of fresh herbs, lemon grass, lychee, and wet stones. The palate confirms the nose delivering a ripe orchard fruits-driven core with flavors of white peach, candied ginger, and lemon curd. The finish is long and lingering with accents of citrus, mineral, and jasmine. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with an opulent yet vibrant texture. Made with their classic Vintage Tunina blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia, and Picolit. $69 – 4.5 Stars/95 points

Bastianich Schioppettino Friuli Colli Orientali 2020
Brilliant, medium ruby color. The nose is moderately intense, offering scents of raspberry, baking spices, and black tea with supporting notes of cranberry, wild berries, and slate. The palate echoes the nose delivering a ripe orchard fruits-driven core with flavors of boysenberry, hibiscus flower, and red plum. The finish is long and lingering with soft tannins. Medium-bodied and nicely balanced with a vibrant texture. $20 – 4 Stars/92 points

Spirits Reviews

Laird’s Old Fashioned (RTD)
Brilliant, bronze to amber color. The nose is filled with the scents of fresh orange peel supported by baked apples with accents of bitters, and more orange notes with hints of sweet cherry. The palate is in full agreement with the nose delivering a decadent, fruit-driven core with waves of brown spice, Brandy, and orange essence. A bold and authentic cocktail with complex flavors and great length. Pour over ice and strain and serve on fresh ice with an orange slice or peel. This lovely RTD proves that Laird’s Applejack is the ideal spirit for the classic Old Fashioned. $14.99 – 4.5 Stars
