Beverage of the Week (BOW)

Griffo Stout Barreled American Whiskey

Product Story

A superb example of wood-finishing as the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. American Whiskey need not be all about new, charred oak; it can choose to add a bit of flair. In this case the wood comes in the shape of barrels that were used by Lagunitas Brewing to age their potent Coffee Stout. The dark, roasted malts and the coffee both play strong supporting roles in this charming Whiskey. The mash bill is a corn-forward Bourbon mash with roasted malts to further accentuate the chocolate and coffee aromas and flavors contributed by the barrel. The resulting Spirit is a wonderfully enhanced Whiskey that surpasses most any flavored Whiskey while offering an unexpected flavor profile.

Brand Story

Owners Michael and Jenny Griffo create small-batch spirits in the heart of California's Sonoma County. This region is world-renowned for it's great wines and in recent years it has been an incubator for creative craft distillers. The produce Vodka, Gin, a series of Whiskies, Brandy, Liqueurs, and a few canned cocktails. This is an American craft distiller to watch.
