Unibroue Blanche De Chambly (Canada)

Product Story

Frequently Belgium Wit (white) beers are named for the town from which they hail like Blanche de Bruxelles or Blanche de Bruges among others. Blanche de Chambly takes its name from the Quebec town where the great Unibroue beers are made. The label features Fort Chambly the XVII century stone fortress was utilized in combatting the British army at the beginning of the XVIII century. Blanche de Chambly was introduced in 1992 and it was immediately recognized by Belgium beer lovers as being much more than a homage to Belgian beer rather a beautiful doppelgänger. It has won dozens of international awards and on numerous occasions it has even been recognized as “The World’s Best White Beer.”

Brand Story

André Dion founded Unibroue based on the idea of uniting Quebec’s microbreweries at the time for distribution in the provinces. That vision failed but from it the project's most promising brewery, Brasserie Massawippi became the property of Dion and Serge Racine. They hired young Belgian brewmaster Gino Vantieghem who created the tremendous core of Belgian-style beers that redefine the micro-beer movement in 1992. Blanche de Chambly was the first white beer in North America brewed in the Belgian tradition and refermented in the bottle. New expressions were developed and offered throughout the 1990s and through ownership changes in 2004 and 2006. While the parent company changed the beers and commitment to crafting world-class beer remained strong. Now more than three decades old Unibroue is still making the beers that won us over in the 90s.

The palate echoes the nose offering more citrus and malt with complex notes of Asian pear, honey, coriander, and fresh bread yeast. Medium-bodied and ideally balanced with great length and elite refreshment.
