Beverage of the Week (BOW)
Fords London Dry Gin
Product Story
Nine botanicals seamlessly marry in the Fords Gin while the Italian juniper and coriander seed are primary. The subtle but vital notes are provided by the following: bitter oranges, lemon and grapefruit peel, jasmine, orris, angelica root, and cassia bark. These botanicals are steeped for 15 hours before distillation in small 500 liter stills. Another very unique aspect of this tasty and stylish Gin is that it is shipped in bulk at full strength and then cut with water from a well in Mendocino County, CA. Most importantly, it’s damn good.
Brand Story
The Fords Gin is created at the prolific Gin specialist Thames Distillery by a collaboration of Master Distillery Charles Maxwell and Simon Ford of The 86 Co. Fords Gin was launched in 2012 as part of the quartet of spirits created by The 86 Co. Joining Fords Gin in the group is a Vodka, Rum, and Tequila. All brands were created with bartenders in mind utilizing ergonomic bottles that are easy to handle and the labels of each product includes meaningful information.
Tasting Note
Brilliant, crystal clear. The juniper steps up and takes center stage followed by a toasted coriander note supported by the angelica with citrus, floral jasmine, and lavender. The palate is in full accord with the nose delivering a lush and oily center palate with juniper and citrus in the lead creating a slightly sweet core that becomes quite dry on the finish. Medium-bodied with ideal balance and a texture that far surpasses most in its class.
How to Serve
The Fords Gin is the perfect candidate for your classic Gin Martini as the vibrant flavors and silky texture nearly demand a starring role in any cocktail.
