Rutte Celery Gin

Product Story

The Rutte Celery Gin is delightfully unusual with a pronounced celery note. The botanicals used are: juniper, celery, coriander, angelica root, sweet orange peel, and cardamon. Rutte has used celery in their spirits from the very beginning. It's wonderfully aromatic and the celery adds a clever little green note on the palate. The bottle's text reads, "Dry Gin" but you know that you have the celery Gin when you see the two celery stalks crossed on the front label.

Brand Story

Rutte is the smallest distillery in Holland that happens to be partnered with one of the nation's largest distilleries, De Kuyper Royal Distillers. For 143 years Rutte has made its home in the historic port city of Dordrecht, The Netherlands. Their artisinal spirits are made entirely with natural ingredients.

Tasting Note

Brilliant, crystal clear. The nose is rather delicate allowing the sweet scents of the pot still distillate to rise from the glass. The celery is certainly evident and it seems to accentuate the fruity notes of the juniper and the sweetness of the angelica with hints of spring flowers and citrus. The palate echoes the nose delivering soft, sweet herbal notes with vibrant citrus that finish with a touch of mint and cardamon. Medium-bodied with ideal balance and a beautiful complexity. The botanicals are pronounced while delicate with great length.

How to Serve

The Rutte Celery Gin is a unique flavor sensation and I want to experience these delicate flavors so I suggest adding very little to this gin. A quality and fresh Vermouth would be a great pairing.
