Tongue Dancer Wines Rosé of Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2019
Product Story
The sixth commercial release of the tasty Tongue Dancer Wines Rosé of Pinot Noir (the fourth that we have reviewed) is delicious as always and in fact it is our favorite to date. This Rosé is in short supply so get yours fast. The 2019 Rosé was made with grapes sourced from a selection of Tongue Dancer's Pinot vineyards as they have done in most vintages. You may remember that last year's Rosé was made from a single vineyard. As in years past this vibrant Rosé is made in the saigné method — a winemaking technique that bleeds off a portion of juice after a brief contact (two days this year) with the grape skins. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel seeing no wood. It's vibrant, crisp, and above all fun to drink making it the ideal spring and summer sipper.
Brand Story
Tongue Dancer Wines is the latest project from James and Kerry MacPhail. If you are a California Pinot Noir lover you likely know James' previous work with MacPhail Family Wines. In over two decades of work MacPhail built a well-deserved reputation as a Pinot Noir guru. Tongue Dancer Wines are Pinot Noir specialists including this delicious and unique Pinot Noir Rosé and a delicious Chardonnay that has now blossomed to this second version of Chardonnay. In short order Tongue Dancer Wines has become one of our most anticipated arrivals. We can't wait to see what they do next — we hear there may be bubbles in our future...
Tasting Note
Brilliant, medium strawberry color. The aromatics are very intense offering scents of raspberry and pomegranate with supporting notes of rose petals, hibiscus flower, and kumquat. The palate confirms the nose delivering a red fruit-driven core with flavors of red cherry, rhubarb, and mineral. The finish is long and lingering with tart red fruits and citrus rising on the finish. Medium to full-bodied and perfectly balanced with a vibrant texture.
How to Serve
This wine really needs nothing but a glass and a comfortable chair but it does pair brilliantly with grilled chicken or salmon.
