Beverage of the Week (BOW)
Red Hills Cellars Rosé Grenache Rogue Valley 2019
Product Story
The color may shock you as it's nearly as deep ruby red as a Beaujolais. The Red Hills Cellars Rosé drinks like the most refreshing red wine that you have ever had. It's made with 100% Grenache — a varietal that is capable of making outstanding Rosé wines. Both the aromatics and the palate are filled with generous, ripe fruit notes while maintaining perfect balance thanks to an equally generous dose of acidity. The only complain that we had is that this wine does not come in a bottomless bottle!
Brand Story
In 2016 Todd Kangiser, and his wife Jackie Crawford, founded Red Hills Cellars. Both are service providers to the Oregon wine industry and wanted to not only produce their own wine, but to further understand the challenges that their clients dealt with every day. First teaming with famed winemaker Tony Rynders to produce small batch, high quality Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, they have now migrated south to the Rogue Valley where they are sourcing top quality fruit and starting to produce varietals like Grenache, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc.
Tasting Note
Brilliant, deep ruby color. The aromatics are very intense offering scents of red plum and raspberry with supporting notes of pomegranate, orange peel, and slate. The palate confirms the nose delivering a red fruit-driven core with flavors of strawberry and hibiscus flower. The finish is long and lingering with trailing tart red fruits. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with a vibrant yet juicy texture.
How to Serve
Serve chilled and pair it with almost anything especially spicy foods. A chili gilled chicken, curry, or spicy bbq are all great choices.
