Beverage of the Week (BOW)

2Hawk Rosé Grenache Rogue Valley 2019

Product Story

This style of Rosé really gets us excited. We love the perfect balance of fruit and acidity with more generous fruit than you would think considering its very modest alcohol — just 12.9 abv. The Grenache for the 2019 2Hawk Rosé remained on the vine two weeks longer than the typical year until it was just right. Two hours in the press was all that was required to extract the beautiful salmon color that you see in the glass. A touch of Syrah was added to stabilize the color (Grenache Rosé can shed its bright color quickly without losing flavor or aromatics). This wine was bottled in late March after resting in stainless steel tanks. The resulting wine is absolutely delicious and impossible to put down. The contents of the bottle just vanish.

Brand Story

2Hawk is an exciting and dynamic wine producer in Oregon's Rogue Valley. The project is piloted by owners Ross and Jen Allen with winemaker Kiley Evans. Ross is a third generation farmer from Fresno County, California with over 30 years in agriculture. Ross manages 2Hawk's 24-plus acres of vines on the estate ranch. Kiley brings over 15 years of winemaking experience to the team. We find that a winemaker's wines are their strongest message and Kiley surely has a great talent and a symbiotic relationship with the fruit he utilizes. 2Hawk produces a wide range of wines. Their estate vineyard 2Hawk grows primarily Malbec, Tempranillo, Grenache, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Chardonnay with smaller amounts of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Petit Verdot. We look forward to seeing and tasting the product of the passionate labors in vintages to come.

Tasting Note

Brilliant, medium salmon color. The nose is moderately intense offering scents of strawberry and wet stones with supporting notes of red plum and ripe kumquat. The palate echoes the nose delivering a red fruit-driven core with flavors of crushed red berries, hibiscus, and pomegranate. The finish is long and lingering with lovely tart berry accents. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with a bright and vibrant texture.

How to Serve

Serve chilled but not too cold as you don't want to mute the flavors. Pour your glasses a few minutes before you plan to drink it. Serve with charcuterie, smoked salmon, and salty, hard cheeses.
