Chinola, as the passion fruit is referred to by locals in the Dominican Republic, is a unique Liqueur with an unforgettable taste and clever packaging. The label has a vintage, old-world look but it's what's inside that creates the memories. Chinola delivers the perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors perfectly and captures the taste of fresh, raw passion fruit juice. Chinola operates with an estate-grown ethic planting and harvesting a very specific type of passion fruit, harvesting, extracting the pulp, and blending it with a sugar cane spirit made from Dominican-grown cane. This is a true farm to bottle Liqueur. This is certainly our Liqueur of the Year at BevX. The quality shines through immediately and the appeal of this product is widespread. Bravo!
Brand Story
Chinola is produced in the small, agricultural town of Majagual, Dominican Republic — located in central DR due north of Santo Domingo. The brand was started by a partnership between Michael Krychowecky, Andrew Merinoff and Robert Pallone. The trio worked closely with Bar Lab, hospitality consultants that launched the tropical themed Broken Shaker with locations in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and New York City. Merinoff is responsible for the strategic direction and commercial expansion across the USA and International Markets at Chinola. The brand is now available in 22 markets with more undoubtedly on the way. The growth has been steady and we see it being a bar staple in short order.
Tasting Note
Cloudy (like fruit juice) and viscous with a bright, golden to burnt orange hue. The nose is very expressive offering scents of ripe tropical fruits with a passion fruit focus but also redolent of sweet mango and star fruit. The palate is in full agreement with the nose delivering a rich and wonderfully complex explosion of real passion fruit flavor including a pronounced tart accents that act as the perfect foil to the sweet core. How to Serve
Chinola is amazingly versatile being delicious served simply chilled, over ice, or mixed with club soda. We love it with sparkling wine and a lime wedge. Chinola blends seamlessly with Rum, agave spirits, Vodka, and clear Brandies paired with fresh fruit juices.
