Zombie - BevX Style

With a name like Zombie, this cocktail creates plenty of mood and mind-altering moments from the name alone. Couple this with the fact that the classic version, first created in the 1930s, is a leg-numbing blend of four rums including a 151 proof version. Perhaps a better moniker would have been Zombie Maker. For this reason, and the wicked commercialization of all tiki drinks, the Zombie has fallen out of favor. We can’t stand to see the baby chucked out with the bath water (an easy mistake after four rums…) so we reinvented the drink opting to employ just two varieties of Rum and cutting more than a third of the spirit away. What remains is a cheerful and tasty marriage of Rum and fresh tropical fruit juices. Best of all you don’t have to phone in sick before your first sip!

Ingredients

1 1/4 oz. Light Rum
1 1/4 oz. Dark Rum
1 oz. Limejuice
1 oz. Pineapple juice
1 oz. Passion Fruit juice

Occasion

This drink needs no occasion but it may be wise to have a soft place to rest your head as these are potent.

Method

Add all of the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice. Shake vigorously and then pour the contents into a tall Collins glass (or ultra cool Tiki glass). Garnish with a lime or any tropical fruit (we like pineapple).

Variations

Many variations can easily be found and in fact this is a variation on the classic. Feel free to make your own tweaks.
