Beverage of the Week

Nia Pinot Noir California 2016Nia Pinot Noir California 2016
This 2016 Nia Pinot Noir is the second vintage that we have seen and as impressed as we were with the 2015, the 2016 Pinot might be even better. Just as exciting is that they have maintained their $9.99 price making this one of the top Pinot Noir values. See the Beverage of the Week feature

Brilliant, medium ruby color. The nose is moderately intense offering scents of red cherry and raspberry with supporting notes of pomegranate, mineral, and hints of black tea. The palate echoes the nose delivering a red fruit-driven core with flavors of red currant and rose petals. The finish is long and lingering with subtle tart cherry accents and supple tannins. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with a silky texture. $9.99 4 Stars/93 points

Lucas & Lewellen Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County 2015
Brilliant, medium ruby color. The nose is moderately intense offering scents of raspberry and strawberry with supporting notes of slate and hints of baking spices. The palate confirms the nose delivering a red fruit-driven core with flavors of boysenberry and lavender. The finish is long and lingering with subtle oak accents and soft tannins. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with a supple texture. $20 4 Stars/92 points

Spirits Reviews

Grand Macnish Sherry Cask 15 Years Old Blended Scotch Whisky
Brilliant, amber color. Scents of orchard fruits hit the nose first followed by fruit cake, oak, and Sherry. The palate confirms the nose delivering a fruit-centric core with flamking notes of brown spice, coconut, Sherry and bitter chocolate on the finish. Medium-bodied with a rich fruit and spice core that would be more pleasing with a bit more acidity. A decent value for a an older blend — it won’t knock your socks off but it’s a nice dram. $37.99 – 3.5 Stars
