Wine Reviews

Chateau Lassègue, Lassègue Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2011
Brilliant, deep ruby color. The aromatics are very intense offering scents of blackberry and forest floor with supporting notes of five spice, black currant, black tea, and plum. The palate echoes the nose delivering a black fruit-driven core with flavors of black fruits, leather, and oak. The finish is long and lingering with firm tannins. Full-bodied and perfectly balanced with a rich texture with dried fruits and mineral rising on the finish. $65 4 Stars/92 points

Ruffino Modus IGT Toscano 2016
Brilliant, deep ruby color. The aromatics are very intense offering scents of blackberry and red cherry with supporting notes of plum, earth, dried herbs, and rosemary. The palate confirms the nose delivering a red and black fruits-driven core with flavors of freshly crushed berries, dark cocoa, and five spice. The finish is long and lingering with ripe and chewy tannins. Full-bodied and perfectly balanced with a rich, meaty texture. $25.99 4 Stars/93 points
Spirits Reviews

Auchentoshan American Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Brilliant, crystal clear. The soft, floral, and subtly fruity Whisky takes second billing to bright Bourbon cask notes offering scents of toasted shaved coconut, vanilla bean, orange peel, and brown baking spices with hints of toasted grain emerging on the finish. The palate echoes the nose while it does reveal some very youthful spirit notes that become a bit peppery and spirity on the finish. It’s medium-bodied with the oak pulling much of the freight with a bright and vibrant acidity. $40 – 3.5 Stars
