Spirits Reviews

Lunazul Primero Añejo, 100% Agave Tequila
Brilliant, crystal clear. The eyes deceive the nose as you expect a burst of fruit at first nosing but get a complex oak-driven nose with waves of honey, caramel, ripe red apples, and subtle brown spices. The palate is more explosive than the nose delivering a rich and silky oak and baked agave dominant core with anise, allspice, tarragon, and vanilla bean in support. Ideally balanced with a generous dose of citrus on the finish that keeps it vibrant and crisp. Lunazul Primero is aged for 18 months in American oak and then filtered to strip all color. $35.99 – 4 Stars

Wine Reviews

Casa Relvas Art. Terra Amphora Alentejano 2020
Brilliant, deep ruby color. The aromatics are very intense offering scents of red currant and blackberry with supporting notes of forest floor, eucalyptus, black tea, and cedar. The palate echoes the nose delivering a red and black fruits-driven core with flavors of black cherry, cassis, and earth. The finish is long and lingering with silky tannins. Full-bodied and nicely balanced with a supple texture. Made with a blend of 50% Aragonez, 40% Trincadeira, and 10% Moreto. $22.99 – 4 Stars/91 points

Casa Relvas Herdade De Sao Miguel Rosé Alentejano 2020
Brilliant, pale coral color. The nose is moderately intense offering scents of raspberry and slate with supporting notes of kumquat and subtle hints of pear skin. The palate confirms the nose delivering a red fruit-driven core with flavors of passion fruit, hibiscus flower, and mineral. The finish is crisp. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with a vibrant texture. Made with a blend of 50% Touriga Nacional, 30% Syrah, and 40% Aragonez. $14.99 – 3.5 Stars/89 points
